Jessica holds a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Philosophy from the University of California. She has over eight years experience working in the mental health field and currently sees individuals, couples, and adolescents in a private practice setting.

 

Her psychotherapy work is informed by psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, feminist, and cross-cultural theories. She holds a deep respect for the uniqueness of each person seeking treatment and tailors her approach to individual’s specific needs. Her style is warm and personable while making room for play and creativity. Some of the issues she works with include anxiety, addiction, depression, life and career transitions, lack of vitality or meaning, and sexual orientation or expression concerns. She works with clients of all cultural backgrounds, orientations, and identities.

Cindy is currently a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies where she is completing her dissertation research on the psychological aspects of women’s personal journal writing. She holds Master of Arts degrees in Clinical Psychology (California Institute of Integral Studies), Counseling Psychology (Brooklyn College of the City University of New York), and Music Business (New York University). As an undergraduate, she attended Oberlin College where she studied English Literature and Film Studies. Cindy has additionally received specialized training in Creative Arts Therapies from the New School University in New York City. Prior to entering the field of clinical psychology, Cindy held a career in the music industry, coordinating video content for a variety of multi-platinum selling recording artists. Over the past seven years, she has provided psychotherapy services in hospital, community mental health, college counseling, and substance use treatment settings, working with individuals and couples of all ages. She completed her predoctoral internship at the California Pacific Medical Center's Outpatient Department of Psychiatry. 

 

In her psychotherapy work with adults, children, and adolescents, Cindy specializes in the treatment of anxiety and panic attacks, life transitions in early adulthood, career uncertainty, and traumatic experiences. She works from a psychoanalytic orientation and uses the modality of play therapy when working with children. Additionally, she offers EMDR therapy for the treatment of trauma and grief. Due to Cindy’s background in the arts, many artists and creative professionals, as well as individuals who desire more freedom of expression in their lives are frequently drawn to working with her.
